Russia is losing the war in Ukraine, UK Defence Chief says

The head of the UK Armed Forces has said Russia is losing the war in Ukraine and emphasised that what happens in the conflict will have a huge impact around the globe.
Speaking in America on global security, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin said "Ukraine continues to have the initiative" in the conflict.
"Ukraine has regained 50% of the land that Russia initially took back in February last year," he said.
"Ukraine is the one that is pushing forward, Ukraine is adapting to the really difficult circumstances that it faces and we need to continue our support in the way that we've done.
"It's more than this quite narrowly defined piece of territory, and I don't mean that in anyway to underestimate the struggle that Ukraine is under to get its sovereign territory back and the lives it is costing.
"But in a bigger sense, this is about the Euro-Atlantic security and its also about the clarity of a rules based international system."
Equally, Admiral Sir Tony said supporting Kyiv's fight is complicated and comes with barriers.
"What is actually going on is a balance for support to Ukraine, impose a cost on Russia, maintain international unity and avoid escalation," he said.
"I think America has been magnificent at managing those parameters."
It comes as Russia said it downed several Ukrainian drones overnight during attempted attacks on Moscow and surrounding regions.
Officials in Ukraine also said a number of Russian drones attacked the Danube port of Ismail for the fourth time in five days.
