VJ Day: Liberating Hong Kong
We hear from a veteran who helped free Hong Kong from the Japanese
As part of the country-wide celebrations marking 75 years since VJ Day and the end of the Second World War, we've been delving into our archives to find interviews with veterans of the 'Far East' conflict.
In 2015 we spoke to veteran Norm Lewis, a Royal Marines bandsman who was assigned to HMS Anson during the war.
After Japan surrendered, the ship and Norm set sail to help with the liberations in Hong Kong, that finally brought a brutal three year and eight month spell under Japanese rule to an end.
