The United States is sending four more High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) to Ukraine, the US Defense Secretary has announced.

HIMARS – a light multiple rocket launcher system developed in the 1990s for the US Army –  is one of the most significant weapons sent by the West to Ukraine since the start of the war.

The delivery will see the total number of HIMARS delivered to Ukraine by the US reach 16.

The additional weapons come as part of the US' most recent military package to Kyiv.
