
US announces $450m in additional military assistance for Ukraine

The US Department of Defense (DoD) has announced new funding to help Ukraine in the war against Russia.
The support, including artillery systems, ammunition, tactical vehicles and small arms weaponry, totals $450m (£366m).
It brings the total amount spent by the US on Ukraine's security needs to $6.5bn (£5.3m) since President Biden entered the White House in January 2021.

Capabilities included in this latest announcement by the DoD include four high-mobility artillery rocket systems, 36,000 rounds of 105mm ammunition, 18 tactical vehicles, 1,200 grenade launchers, 2,000 machine-guns, 18 patrol boats, and an array of spare parts.
In a press statement, the DoD said the "United States continues to work with its allies and partners to provide Ukraine with capabilities to meet its evolving battlefield requirements".
