Ukraine has shared photos of what appears to be the inside of Russia's most advanced tank, the T-90M.

The battle tank was introduced in 2016 and includes improved armour, an upgraded gun and enhanced satellite navigation systems.

Ukraine's Ministry of Defence tweeted the photos and mocked Russia, saying: "The newest Russian tank T-90M was found in Kharkiv region in perfect condition.

"We ask its owner(s) to contact the #UAarmy. Please identify yourself by a sign: a white flag."

It comes as Ukraine is using captured Russian tanks to consolidate its gains in its north-east amid an ongoing counter-offensive, according to a US-based think tank.

Kyiv has vowed to push further into territories occupied by Moscow.

The Institute for the Study of War, citing a Russian claim, said Ukraine has been using abandoned Russian T-72 tanks as it tries to push into the Russian-occupied region of Luhansk.

Earlier this month, Ukraine launched its counter-offensive, pushing into territory around its second-largest city of Kharkiv.

Videos and photos showed Ukrainian troops seizing tanks, ammunition and other weaponry left behind by Moscow in a seemingly chaotic withdrawal.
