UK sending high velocity anti-aircraft missile system Starstreak to Ukraine

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has told NATO counterparts the UK will provide high velocity anti-aircraft missile system Starstreak to Ukraine.

The alliance's defence ministers met for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine three weeks ago.

The extraordinary meeting focused on the immediate Ukrainian crisis and the wider security issues for the region.

Discussions centred around demonstrating the allies' support for Ukraine, the ongoing humanitarian issue and the importance of NATO members spending at least 2% of GDP on defence.

During the meeting, ministers agreed to continue providing significant military supplies to the stricken country, including lethal and non-lethal aid.

UK support includes more than 4,000 anti-tank missiles.

Mr Wallace said: "The UK and our allies continue to support Ukraine against Russia's invasion.

"I have met with my fellow Defence Ministers today to discuss the next steps."
