Injured Ukrainian military personnel prepare for the Warrior Games in Brighton

"We can show the world Ukraine is unstoppable and unbreakable", said National Guard of Ukraine Major Yerhen Zhar.

A group of injured Ukrainian military personnel are training in Brighton ahead of competing at the Warrior Games in Orlando.

The Blind Veterans UK Centre for Wellbeing in Brighton has invited the team to use its facilities which have been largely under-used since the pandemic.

Hosted by the US Army, the 2022 Warrior Games will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort from 19-28 August.

Elite athletes from across the armed services will compete in adaptive sports, celebrating their recovery, resilience, and ability as wounded warriors.

The Ukrainian team will travel to Orlando at the end of August where they hope the world will be watching to hear their messages of support for their country.

Major Yerhen Zhar, National Guard of Ukraine, says the games are giving them a platform to talk to the world.

"We can show the world Ukraine is unstoppable and unbreakable, the chance to talk about the real truth of the situation in Ukraine and to raise the Ukrainian flag at the games in the US," he said.
