How can British multiple-launch rocket systems help Ukraine?

The UK is sending an unspecified number of M270 launchers to help counter Russian artillery.

The M270 multiple-launch rocket system is among the most potent weapons used by the British Army, and it’s headed to Ukraine.

Intended to counter the efforts of Russian artillery, it can unleash all of its 12 rockets in less than a minute against a target, each 200 pound explosive warhead leaving behind what military author Martin J Dougherty describes as "hell".

Entering service with the US military in 1983 on Operation Desert Storm, the self-loading launcher is mounted on the chassis of an M2 Bradley fighting vehicle – extending Ukraine’s mobile firepower capability.
