STEM roadshow inspiring pupils to pursue military careers
The Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and BAE Systems have launched their latest roadshow to inspire a passion for STEM – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – in young people, in a bid to affect their future career choices.
STEM subjects can lead many young people to develop an interest in joining the British Armed Forces, particularly the Navy or RAF.
Julian Cracknall, BAE's chief technology and information officer, said: "This is all about trying to create the right environment and making sure children understand this is a really exciting place to build their careers.
"It's been a real challenge for many years to get enough children interested in science and technology.
"Shows like this are a way to stimulate that demand, and that interest, by making it a stimulating, loud experience," he added.

The roadshow visits 420 schools every year during its journey across the country and is made up of two travelling teams.
Lieutenant Commander Heather Crossley said: "I have been in the Navy for nine years now. It's great to see so many more role models out there, inspiring kids nowadays.
"Also, I think, now that there is so much technology out there in the world, hopefully, that is sparking interest in how it works, and the future and where we are going."
