Former British soldier Scott Meenagh is set to be the sole British competitor at the Para Nordic World Championships in Östersund, Sweden.
Meenagh, who is a double amputee after he was injured serving in Afghanistan with the 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment in 2011, will be looking to build on a successful season last year where he claimed his best result at the Paralympic Winter Games where he finished sixth in the long-distance biathlon.
The world championships will include cross country as well as biathlon events and will take place from 20-29 January.
Taking place at the same time is the Para Alpine World Championships in Espot, Spain, where RAF Sergeant Gary Smith will travel to the Espot Valley as the British team's reserve guide.
Smith was the guide for Menna Fitzpatrick at last year's Winter Paralympics in Beijing, where they won a silver and a bronze medal.
An experienced guide, he was also the guide of previous Paralympic Champion Kelly Gallagher.
The Para Alpine World Championships run from 21-29 January.
