The Royal Navy's newly crowned Sportsman of the Year has helped power Team GB's two-man bob to second place in the second bobsleigh World Cup race of the season at Park City USA.

Royal Marine Taylor Lawrence, the brakeman for GB driver Brad Hall, led the race after the first heat, posting a time of 48 seconds, but the Olympic and World Champion German Francesco Friedrich produced an unbeatable second heat, to overturn Hall and Lawrence by just 26/100ths of a second to claim the gold medal.

Hall was second last weekend in the opening race of the season at Whistler in Canada in both the two and four-man races, and they will be in action again in the four-man race on Sunday.

Royal Marine Taylor Lawrence made an incredible start to the 2022/23 bobsleigh season by winning medals in his first two races for Great Britain.

In the two-man race, Royal Marine Lawrence finished in second place alongside Brad Hall as the team from Switzerland finished in first.

However, in the four-man event, GB finished on top of the podium with Mne Lawrence, Hall, Rory Willicombe and Arran Gulliver all collecting gold medals.
