RAF U23s end long wait for Inter Services victory

Their first Inter Services win this decade came against the Royal Navy U23s in Witney.

The RAF U23s rugby union team have won their first Inter Services match this decade.

A 31-15 victory over the Royal Navy U23s in Witney concluded the 2021 Inter Services Championships and ended a long wait for the Air Force.

The Army had already been crowned champions with a win in Aldershot last week.

Craig Irwin, Jordan Oatley, Zack Taylor and Harry Stainton all scored converted tries as the RAF bounced back from their Army defeat.

The Navy did push them all the way, though, as an impressive drop goal from Kieran Manson and two nice tries from Jack Prentice and Jay Toogood got them on the scoresheet.

There were also three players sent to the sin bin during a feisty encounter in freezing temperatures in Oxford.
