Army vs Navy: Senior Service looks to younger stars for Twickenham victory

Fourteen members of the Navy men's squad were uncapped heading into this year's season.

The Royal Navy men's rugby union team have been training in Taunton ahead of their Twickenham clash with the British Army - one of two matches you can watch live with BFBS.

After a win against the Royal Air Force, the Senior Service knows they could be crowned Inter Services champions with a win against their rivals on Saturday.

While there is some experience in the team with the likes of Ben Priddey and team captain Jarrard Hayler, a number of the Navy's team are in the middle of their first Inter Services season.

"We need to start bringing in the youngsters coming through," said Priddey.

"We've got some real good youngsters that have come in this season which we are happy about."

Two of those new stars, Jesse Lowe and Henry Hughes, were on the scoresheet against the Air Force, while Hughes has previous Twickenham experience.

"I'm very fortunate to have played there a few times before when I was at university - and it doesn't get old," Surgeon Lieutenant Hughes said.

"Playing at Twickenham is an incredibly special thing to do.

"This is a completely different and unique experience to ones that I've had before. I consider myself really fortunate.

"I've been in the Navy for seven years now and this is something I've tried to do the whole time I've been in."
