Army-Navy Twickenham Fixtures Cancelled Over Coronavirus

Army Navy rugby union match at Twickenham

This year's British Army vs Royal Navy fixtures at Twickenham Stadium have been cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

The men's and women's matches, which were due to be played on Saturday 2 May, are the latest in a long list of forces sporting events to be postponed or called off completely.

This year, the women's sides were set to make history by playing their Inter Services fixture at the stadium for the first time.

For the last four years, the fixture has been a sellout with all 80,000 tickets being sold within a matter of hours.

The Army won last year's men's fixture at Twickenham, beating the Navy 27-11.

The announcement comes a day after the Invictus Games postponed the 2020 tournament to next year over the COVID-19 crisis.
