Royal Navy dominate as RAF suffer Inter Services nightmare

An impressive performance from the Royal Navy men's rugby league side saw them secure an Inter Services victory over the RAF.

The rugby league competition returned to Portsmouth – it was the first time the sides had met at Inter Services level since 2019.

Spectators were rewarded with a dominant Navy performance, holding off some late RAF resilience which proved to come too late as they were beaten 22-12.

A double from James Tilley and an outrageous penalty from the imperious Darren Bamfield stole the show for the Band of Brothers who face the Army in their next match.

Kini Dakuliga and Gavin Duffy were also on the scoresheet for the home side.

The RAF forced the issue late on with two tries in the final five minutes but they were not enough to avoid defeat.
