RAF Win Thrilling 'Le Crunch' Clash Against French Air Force

A 22-14 victory for the Royal Air Force at Allianz Park gave new head coach Justin Coleman a win in his first game at the helm.

The Royal Air Force have beaten their French counterparts in the 2020 'Le Crunch' match at Allianz Park.

The 22-14 win comes less than two months before the RAF kick off their Inter Services campaign.

The result also meant new head coach Justin Coleman won his first match in charge.

The first half was littered with penalties which meant the French led 9-3 before the first try was scored.

Scrum-half Joe Parking put in a man of the match performance on the night, but it was Sean Chapman who scored the opening try.

The RAF will meet the Army in the opening game of the 2020 Inter Services Championships in Gloucester.

Luke Riddell converted the kick to give the RAF a 10-9 lead at half-time.

The Air Force have a number of younger players breaking through, but it was experienced head Dave Manning who put them further in front.

After lots of RAF pressure, Manning showed his knowledge as he crept over the line, with Riddell adding to the score with his kick.

The French managed to get a try of their own, but the RAF’s attack proved to be too strong.

Ryan Scott Young showed his impressive pace to put the score past the French when he dotted down an individual try.

There was a yellow card for each team as tempers flared before the end of the game, but the Air Force held on for a confidence-building 22-14 victory.
