RAF Men And Army Women Take Indoor Hockey Inter Services Titles

The RAF Men have won the Indoor Hockey Inter Services title in Aldershot, with the Army taking the women’s championship.

In the U25’s tournament, the Navy took the trophy on goal difference.

The Army Women were the favourites for the competition after recently competing in the National League.

Their journey towards requalification for the civilian tournament started by beating the RAF and the Navy in both games to win the title.

In the U25’s competition, it was all to play for as three evenly matched teams made for an unpredictable title race.

It was the Navy who were the winners as they snatched the title away on goal difference.

Major Nic George picked up the trophy for the Army Women as captain.

The main event was the senior men competition and after a 7-7 draw between the Air Force and the Navy in game one, the Army could have made a statement against the RAF.

Instead, the men in blue pulled out a tremendous performance scoring nine and effectively, sealing the title.

Against the Army, the Navy needed a six-goal swing to take the trophy away from them which meant an unusual sight of the RAF cheering for the home team.

An exciting game followed but a draw was not enough for the Senior Service, who finished in second place.
