The Royal Navy women played Middlesex FA in the Southern Counties Cup at HMS Temeraire in Portsmouth, where the Navy faced strong opposition from the visitors.

An organised Middlesex team were quick to assert their authority with an early goal by Ami Martins, but the Navy were quick to respond and Jade Widdows scored to level the scoreboard.

After the Navy's equaliser, Middlesex showed great composure to regain the advantage and Ashley Cheatley scored the next goal to give them back the lead over the Navy.

The Navy found themselves on the back foot going into half-time, with Middlesex enjoying a 1-2 lead.

In the second-half, Middlesex wasted no time and grabbed their third goal of the game by Jenny Nagle, who then quickly followed that up with another goal to bring the scoreboard to 1-4 as Middlesex began to extend their huge lead over the Navy.

Middlesex relied on Ami Martins once again as she grabbed her second goal of the game to bring the scoreboard to 1-5.

The Navy gave it everything they had to close in on Middlesex's huge lead, but Middlesex's organised defence proved to be a challenge for the blues.

At the final whistle, Middlesex proved to be a strong and formiddible team with a 1-5 victory against a respectable Navy team, who named Ciara Boylan as their Player of the Match.

The Navy begin their build-up to the Inter Services in March where they will face the Army and defending champions the RAF.
