A Different League: UKAF Team Get A Big Club Rugby Treat

The Armed Forces squad get to see the world-class facilities available to players at the top of their game.

It’s not every day you get invited to one of the biggest rugby league clubs in the world.

But that’s what happened to the UK Armed Forces team, who, midway through their Defence World Cup campaign, visited the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Sam Burgess is one of the most recognisable faces in rugby league, playing at one of Australia’s most successful clubs, and he was keen for the UK Armed Forces team to visit and watch the Rabbitohs train at Redfern Park.

Sam and his twin brothers Tom and George all play for the South Sydney club.

Ben Taylor, the UKAF captain, met Sam at the Rugby League Four Nations last year.

The UKAF players got to tour the club’s world class facilities – the visit in general enough to inspire them to a win over New Zealand.

Watch the video to found out why there’s more than just rugby league that connects the two teams.
