'A dream come true': Army cricketers prepare for Lord's occasion

After a three-year absence, 2022 marks the return of Inter Services cricket to Lord's Cricket Ground.

The home of English cricket will play host to both of the Army's matches in the T20 championships and some players will be making their first appearance at the legendary venue.

Both matches, as well as a first-ever UKAF women's match at Lord's, will be shown LIVE on the Forces News YouTube channel on 16 June.

"It's like a dream come true," says Corporal Varun Bali who is awaiting his first taste of the ground at which some of his heroes have played.

"I would have never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would ever have been able to play at Lord's.

"Being at Lord's is a privilege and the best thing ever in the world for any cricketer, to be able to play there," he added.

The first match in the 2022 tournament will see the RAF and the Navy do battle on 14 June.

The clash, which usually takes place at Lord's, was moved to make way for the first-ever Forces women's match at the venue as the UK Armed Forces take on an MCC team.

That match, as well as the Army v Navy and Army v RAF clashes, will be shown LIVE on the Forces News YouTube from Lord's Cricket Ground on 16 June.
