The British Army Rugby Union team will return from America as The 2018 RugbyTown 7s champions.
Held annually at Infinity Park Colorado, the tournament took place over the weekend of August 24th and 25th 2018, with teams from across the globe competing for glory.
With sides from as far away as Hong Kong, as well as from across the United States of America, it was the British Army squad who took the top prize - $10,000 (£7,700) and the prestigious Cup Champion Title.
The competition was fierce, as was the weather - high temperatures mixed with an equally high humidity ensured that only the fittest teams prevailed.
Drawn in Pool D, the Army had to navigate a difficult group which included fellow British side ‘Ramblin Jesters’.
As the weather turned inclement the Army found themselves matched against the Collegiate All-American squad as the competition reached the semi-final stage.
The superior fitness of the Army side ensured they strolled to a 17-5 victory, setting up a final fixture against Tiger Rugby – a side made up of players from across America.
As the teams entered the half-time break the Army were on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline.
However, undeterred by their first-half performance they eventually regained composure – turning the score around to a seal a 7-5 victory.
It is the first time in the competition’s seven-year history that a British side has taken the top honours.
