Forces boxers lead medal charge at Great Britain Elite Three Nations finals day

Forces boxers have had a successful weekend at the Great Britain Elite Three Nations tournament in Rotherham.

Seven military fighters won medals including three gold medal winners and two silver medal winners.

There was also an all-Army final as Corporal Megan Reid met Lance Corporal Terri-Leigh Stuart with Cpl Reid winning a close-fought battle by split decision.

Private Jerry Lee Palmer also secured a gold medal while representing the Army as she defeated Mary Kate Smith by a unanimous decision.

Royal Navy star Sophie Colbourn continued her winning ways at national competitions with a split decision victory over Dione Burman to seal a gold.

It was a silver medal for two losing military finalists.

The RAF's Carys Mainwaring lost by split decision to Alex Bryant while LCpl Stuart's defeat in the all-Army final resulted in a silver medal.

Meanwhile, Army pair Guardsman Joe Louis Wright and Signaller Lucy Kisielewska were awarded bronze medals.
