Army boxers prepare for ABA finals

This weekend marks the first Amateur Boxing Association finals since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Army boxers are preparing to compete at the England Boxing National Amateur Championships finals for the first time in two years.

Saturday's event is the first time it has taken place since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Previous winners at the event include Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Nicola Adams.

Signaller Lucy Kisielewska in the women's welterweight division has reached the final after beating Army fighter Terri Stuart in the semifinal.

Getting to the final has given Kisielewska the chance to impress the national coaches and an opportunity to land a place in the coveted Great Britain squad in Sheffield.

"I've got a GB assessment coming on January 6," she said.

"I want to get my name in the history books with this fight on Saturday, but even then, I want to cement the fact that I deserve to be there in January.

"I deserve a shot at GB."

The other boxers fighting at the event who represent the Army are Lance Corporal Carnell Brown and Private Josh Millington.
