2 PARA advance to Army Inter Unit Boxing Finals with valiant win over 1 YORKS
2 PARA are through to the final of the 2023 Army Boxing Championships after beating 1 YORKS by 7 bouts to 2 on home turf in Colchester.
With the home advantage in a packed Corporal Budd VC Gymnasium, the PARAS started off their campaign with ruthless efficiency as Private Murdoch toppled Private Tate of 1 YORKS within a minute-and-a-half of the first round at 57kg.
But 1 YORKS didn't give up at the first hurdle and they levelled up in a second-round stoppage as Private Sloan beat Private Fuller of 2 PARA at 63.5kg, a performance which won him best boxer of the night.
The 2 PARAS then continued their victory run from there with a third-round stoppage for Private Day over Private Frost of 1 YORKS in their 67kg bout.
Corporal Andres at 71kg and their captain, Private Walker at 75kg, won on points against a valiant Lance Corporal Noble.
There were also wins for Private Drury at 80kg, Lance Corporal Jones at 86kg and Private Unden at 92kg, until Private Dickson of 1 YORKS took a points win over 2 PARA Private Oakley at the last bout at Super Heavyweight.

2 PARA will now advance to the final in Aldershot next month, where they'll go head-to-head with Cyprus based 1 Royal Anglian.
Head coach Private Charlie Dane says the 2 PARA's fitness "really showed" in their bouts against 1 YORKS.
He said: "We like to hit the mark early so credit to them, they are really grafting now and the fitness really showed tonight."
1 YORKS Head Coach, Lance Corporal Michael Farrell, said: "Valiant effort tonight all around, they have all done themselves justice so I am very proud.
"We have got a couple of awards and a couple of individual awards which we can be proud of, but as the night went on, the best team won and congratulations to them and good luck in the final."
The Army Inter Units Championships final will take place in Aldershot on 27 April.
