Soldiering On Awards

The Soldiering On Awards has hosted its finalists at a House of Lords reception, recognising the achievements of those who have served their country and the people and groups who work together in support of the Armed Forces community.

There were inspirational and selfless individuals everywhere you looked, with the build-up to the naming of the 12 award winners now well underway.

The special evening will take place on April 20, with nominations having been welcomed from the Armed Forces community and public.

And Thursday's event caused a flurry of excitement on social media, as the finalists took to Twitter to express their gratitude and offer words of encouragement to their rivals...

There were excited en route selfies...

David Wells, digital editor at Forces Network's website, who attended the event to represent Forces Network as sponsors of the People's Choice Award, said: "It was an amazing night at the House of Lords, meeting so many people with such inspirational stories to tell.

"Now we are urging as many people as we can to get behind the awards and vote in the People's Choice when voting is opened on March 1."

And some big support for one of the biggest finalists!

Dr Aamer Khan, who's up for the Healthcare & Rehabilitation Award for his work with the Back on Track charity, was in attendance with its patron Mark Allen:
