Facebook will be offering free tips and advice to help military spouses boost their work skills at a social media bootcamp-style networking event after joining forces with BFBS.
Experts from the social networking powerhouse will be on hand to offer a masterclass at the BFBS Social Media Spouses Live - the UK’s first free networking event for military spouses and partners looking to further their knowledge and skills in social media.
Andy Mihalop , Facebook’s Marketing Program Lead, and Mollie Pearse, Facebook’s Head of Financial Services Marketing, will be the keynote speakers for the day of the event, to share some insider knowledge of the best use of Facebook and Instagram, in a jam-packed one-hour session.
Tickets are now available for Social Media Spouses Live, the UK’s first free networking event for military spouses and partners looking to further their knowledge and skills in social media.
The event will take place on Friday 29 November from 10am to 2pm at The Lights in Andover.
Other headline events during the day include such attention-grabbing headlines as ‘F**k You Fear, How To Edit Videos On Your Phone and Facebook & Instagram Stories by the BFBS digital social media and team - skills that are important for every social media strategy.
Social Media Spouses Live is the first networking event from the team behind Social Media Spouses, a recently launched online course designed to addresses a real need amongst military spouses and partners to obtain the skills they need to find flexible and interesting work that fits around military and family life.
Course Leader Jackie Rautenbach, BFBS Social Media Manager, said:
“We are thrilled that through the success of Social Media Spouses we are able to launch this live event for military spouses and partners who want to improve their social media skills and know how.”
The course is funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and is the first dedicated free online course to offer military wives and partners detailed training on how to use social media to grow their business, or to find a career in social media.
Since its launch this summer, the course has received around 500 applications and has just under 1,300 members in the Facebook support group – providing a strong foundation for its first live event.
Jackie added: "It is really important to share ideas and meet others who are also embarking on a new learning experience. We know from the popularity of our Facebook group how valuable this support is to military spouses and partners, and we hope that this live event will be the first of many across the UK.
"We’re also hugely excited that Facebook is joining us and showing their support to military spouses.”
A number of entrepreneurial military spouses and partners who already run businesses will also be able to showcase and sell their wares at the event.
There will also be some light entertainment to add some more inspiration during the day from former soldier and magician Richards Jones, winner of Britain's Got Talent in 2016.
