Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family are to lead commemorations this weekend to mark 70 years since VJ day.
Ahead of the anniversary, Forces TV has been speaking to veterans of the campaign in the Far East.
Mordaunt Cohen was in Burma as part of an anti-aircraft unit defending RAF air strips and, during his service, survived malaria, hepatitis and gruelling conditions.
He's just turned 99, and has been sharing his recollections with Forces TV’s Welfare Reporter, Victoria Smith.
