Tradesmen and veterans’ charities have come together to transform a derelict street in Greater Manchester into comfortable and modern housing for service veterans.

The collaboration between “Walking with the Wounded”, Haig Housing and the BBC hit show “DIY SoS”, presented by Nick Knowles, is now in full swing, while a call to arms for local tradesmen and suppliers to help make it happen has gone viral.

A Facebook appeal on BFBS OPS' page has now been viewed around 1,000,000 times, and accrued over 2,000 likes, 10,000 shares, and 400 comments.

Click here, meanwhile, to listen to BFBS Radio's interview with the project's build manager Mark Millar.

If you think you can help, email diysosheroes@bbc.co.uk or the postcode is M40 8AE if you can get yourself there to lend a hand.
