RAF Brize Norton held its annual awards ceremony honouring the nominees of the Brize Recognition Awards for Valued and Outstanding Service - The BRAVOS.
The awards, now in their sixth year, recognise the incredible work of the personnel on the Royal Air Force's largest station.
The awards are entirely peer nominated and saw eight trophies presented to those who go above and beyond to help the RAF Brize Norton and the local community. Below hear Deputy Commander Operations Air Marshal Stuart Atha speak to us about the night:
The evening was hosted once again by Peter Dickson, well known as the voice star of ITV's X Factor. A number of other VIPs attended including Deputy Commander Operations, Air Marshal Stuart Atha and Air Officer Commanding 2 Group, Air Vice-Marshal David Cooper.
The winners included Chief Tech Michelle Burgess who won the Sporting Achievement award for being an inspirational advocate for sport.
Sergeant Becky Quinn won the Valiant Volunteer award for her part as the Deputy Team Leader in the RAF Brize Norton Military Co-responder team.
The Total Safety Award went to Sergeant James Clifton who has been an integral part of LXX Squadron in his role as Unit Flight Safety Officer and Lead Crewman Planner. He told Forces Radio BFBS...
"It's fantastic, winning has come as a complete shock especially looking at who I was up against. It's a honour to be recognised for this."
Group Captain Dan James Station Commander of RAF Brize Norton told us:
“The BRAVOS are an excellent opportunity to thank many of the fantastic people on the Station who do a brilliant job.
"There were over 100 submissions for different people and teams and it was an extremely tough job choosing the eight winners, which highlights the quality of our people at RAF Brize Norton.”
