Minehunter crews mark milestone anniversary on critical Gulf mission

Sailors who have kept the Gulf's shipping region free from mines are celebrating their achievements as a key milestone is passed in their ongoing operation, known as Op Kipion.

Thousands of Royal Navy sailors have spent months in the searing temperatures of the Middle East, ensuring trade flows freely, with the consequences of disruption potentially costing the UK economy millions.

Minehunter crews typically complete a tour of duty of up to four years before returning home to the UK, a process that has continued non-stop for 15 years.
