HMS Medway is positioned and ready to support the people of the Cayman Islands as Hurricane Ian approaches.

The offshore patrol vessel is responsible for anti-drug smuggling operations and humanitarian relief efforts on behalf of the Royal Navy.

"Her crew has already provided vital infrastructure support to the Turks and Caicos Islands following Hurricane Fiona," the Ministry of Defence highlighted.

Her "dedicated team" of commando engineers is now ready to support the people of the Cayman Islands.

The vessel is equipped with hurricane-related aid on board, everything from medical equipment to materials to clear blocked roads.

HMS Medway is permanently deployed to the Caribbean to support the overseas territories.
