More than 200 people attended the funeral of Sergeant Dean Walton, of 3rd Battalion the Parachute Regiment, who had spent several years with the Army's iconic Red Devils display team.

Sgt Walton died on 14 October following a skydiving accident while off duty in Spain.

As a mark of respect to the 36-year-old, affectionately known as 'Waldo', six of his close friends from the Red Devils parachuted into the garden of remembrance at The Oaks Havant Crematorium, Portsmouth.

The funeral service was conducted by the 3 PARA padre, Chaplain Stewart Mackay, and included a firing party that gave a 21-gun salute after one minute's silence.

A memory book for Stella was signed by many of the mourners.

On Facebook, the Parachute Regiment wrote: "We have lost one of our brightest shining stars."
