Double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes has been having "a lot of fun even trying to be grown-up" at the Bovington Camp in Dorset.
The Olympian is the Honorary Colonel of the Royal Armoured Corps Training Regiment (RACTR) and had the opportunity recently to do "one of the best parts" of her role, interacting with the Initial Trade Trainees.
She was able to talk to them, watch them practice embarking and disembarking from a Chinook helicopter and was even able to get a ride on a Challenger 2 tank during her time.
In a post to her official Instagram account, Dame Kelly Holmes, who served with the British Army for 10 years before becoming an elite athlete, said she was "privileged" to be the Colonel of the RACTR.
Adding that she thought the Initial Trade Trainees' Dismounted Close Combat Exercise was "a great opportunity for the future soldiers of the RAC".
Dame Holmes even made a joke in her tweet about the correct way to pronounce 'ma'am'.
She said: "Btw it's Ma'am as in Jam, not Marm as in Farm – I learnt that when I [was] 17."
