Russia continues its intensive focus on east Ukraine

Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday set out a new £300m support package for Kyiv's military as he saluted the resistance of Ukrainians.

After Russia's surprisingly poor performance in the early stages of the invasion of Ukraine, Moscow has consolidated the country's armed forces in the East.

The latest intelligence from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) has shown Russia's intensive focus on the east after its failed campaign to capture Kyiv.

It remains unclear if this war will be won or lost in Eastern Ukraine but it is becoming clear that artillery will be crucial in the conflict, with Ukraine's armed forces hoping new weaponry sent from the West will be enough to give them the edge.
