As news of Queen Elizabeth II's death travelled across the world, people began sharing their fond memories of the Monarch.

Her Majesty died in the afternoon of 8 September while in residence at Balmoral Castle, surrounded by her family, including King Charles III, William, Duke of Cornwall and the Earl of Wessex.

The news of her death prompted millions of people around the world to take to social media and share their personal stories of when they met the Sovereign.

Many of those people were either serving personnel or veterans, keen to share their special memories of the longest reigning British monarch.

Were you ever fortunate enough to meet Queen Elizabeth II and perhaps speak to her? Did you ever guard her at Buckingham Palace or take part in Royal ceremonies like Trooping The Colour?

We would like to hear your fond memories of Her Majesty, so please write them here.

Many veterans and serving personnel have created threads on social media when one tweet wasn't enough to adequately describe their once-in-a-lifetime moment meeting the Queen.

Some have shared photographs of military events they took part in that were attended by Queen Elizabeth II.

Feelings of delight, nervousness and pride are displayed in thousands upon thousands of social media posts, including the ones below.
