Millions of people around the world watched in awe on Monday as eight young Grenadier Guardsmen carried upon their shoulders Queen Elizabeth II's coffin at her state funeral, displaying the impeccable professionalism and composure Britain's Armed Forces are known for.

Flawless, role models, nerves of steel, outstanding – just some of the words that have been used to describe the young soldiers.

While some might say the men from Queen's Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, were only doing their duty, others are expressing their admiration for the dedication these men showed to a woman they had a close connection with.

As the serving Monarch, Her Late Majesty held the position of company commander for Queen's Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards and made a personal review of the company every decade.

People took to social media to express their strong belief that the pallbearers should be honoured for their service by each being awarded an MBE.
