Former First Sea Lord recalls memories of working with the Queen

A former First Sea Lord has been speaking to Forces News about his "very special" time serving the Queen on board The Royal Yacht Britannia as a young Naval officer.

Admiral (Retired) Sir Philip Jones, Former First Sea Lord, served in the Royal Yacht Britannia in the mid-1980s, he called his time "an extraordinary experience, not only for the deep professionalism and skill with which the yacht did its business but the fact it was doing it in support of the Queen's programme."

During his time on board, he had the Queen onboard on several different occasions, "it was a very special, very privileged 16months working with the Queen", he said.
