The RAF's 1 Squadron Force Protection have trained in their ability to recover isolated personnel in Cyprus.
The exercise saw the squadron train in the heat and on rough ground similar to that found on many of the airfields they operate on.
1 Squadron Force Protection also conducted section attacks, allowing practice gunners to identify and neutralise a threat.
This saw personnel use the L129A1 Sharpshooter rifle - a semi-automatic high-precision weapon that can be taken on patrol and fills the gap between service rifle and the sniper rifle.
The RAF Regiment gunners are highly trained as they usually operate around high value assets.
