In this BFBS Original Music Special, Matt Cardle is in session with Jay James.

In a very raw and honest Interview, the multi-platinum selling recording artist and former winner of the X Factor bares all about life, love, highs, lows and gives all the background on his brand new, fourth studio album #TimeToBeAlive.

In a relaxed chat with our own Jay James (a friend and previous X Factor star himself), Matt exclusively reveals his 'Desires' and genuine ambitions to join the Armed Forces after spending his childhood in the Army Cadets.

"It was a huge passion of mine and I genuinely wanted to follow it through."

We learn of his passion for Spitfires after spending two summers maintaining them while trying to launch his music career.

"Being around them is enough for anyone, then just crank it over, turn it over the Merlin and oh my god it’s something to behold it really is."

With stunning acoustic performances of songs from the new album, not to mention a cheeky cover of Sia's 'Chandelier', Matt was in fine form, talking of his amazing experiences growing up, his early influences and what it was like to win the X Factor.

He also gives his thoughts on One Direction (who became the biggest band on earth after he beat them on the show), that amazing duet with Rihanna, all the way up to the current-day, winning awards on the West End with forces favourite Beverley Knight.

Don’t take our word for it but the session proved incredibly popular online.
