Jamie Gordon revisits Berlin 30 years on from the fall of the Berlin Wall which initiated the end of the Cold War. In this special programme he speaks to BFBS colleagues and Military personnel who were serving in the city at the time to hear their recollections of one of the most historic events of the 20th Century.
Jamie first arrived in Berlin in 1987 and joined BFBS as a Government sponsored trainee, he lived in the city on and off for the next three years and became a presenter on the station even broadcasting on that momentous night on 9th November 1989. This programme features unique archive audio recorded by BFBS staff at the time, they produced some of the first English reporting out of the city and as a result were much in demand throughout the world.
