Santa, Rudolph, cheeky elves, Jay and Hal from Forces Radio BFBS and Olaf The Snowman, this is not your average Christmas party.
The #BigShow team had a 'Big Forces Christmas Day Out' to visit all six fully deployable units based at Northwood HQ and take part in a long-standing Royal Navy Christmas tradition for charity.
Every year teams in Christmas themed fancy dress take on a festive It's A Knockout competition to raise money for Watford General Children’s Ward. The aim is to put a smile on the kids who are stuck in hospital at Christmas.
Father Christmas made a quick visit to start the games but his arrival was rather unusual because his reindeer were taking the afternoon off. They need to get some rest before the big night.
The contenders took on 10 festive games including a Christmas cave, Santa’s delivery service and a Rodeo reindeer.
Jay and Hal decided that four of the best dressed should see who can ride Rudolph the longest in a Street Fighter-themed game. Find out who won in the funny video below...
The afternoon ended with a sing song of The Twelve Days of Christmas with each team taking on a line, including Jay and Hal who took on the Five Gold Rings part.
Of his time spent at Northwood watching all the contenders put everything they had into being the winning team Hal said:
"The people who work at Northwood give so much throughout the year. It's great to see the comradery coming together in this annual competition, particularly the sterling work in organising this from the PT branch. They hosted us so well."
Jay, who knows a few of the PT staff who organised the fundraising event, really enjoyed the day.
"It's a knockout is a big long-standing Royal Navy tradition and it was absolutely awesome to go and spend the day with everyone at Northwood and join in the Christmas spirit."
