BFBS Germany 'Unlocked' Competition: Supplementary Rules

Dates & Summary of Competition:

'Unlocked' will begin on the Forces Radio BFBS Germany Breakfast show on Tuesday 2nd April 2018 and end when a listener successfully 'unlocks' the safe in the studio by correctly guessing the four-digit combination code.

This will be no later than the end of the afternoon show on Monday April 30, 2018. 'Unlocked' will run on the Forces Radio BFBS Germany Breakfast and Afternoon shows between 8am and 9am and between 3pm and 4pm weekdays (for the length of the competition).

BFBS Radio reserves the right to include extra rounds of the competition in other shows during its run.

The successful four-digit code will physically unlock a safe in the studio at Forces Radio BFBS in Sennelager.  Unsuccessful attempts will leave the safe locked.

How to Enter

To enter the competition, BFBS Germany listeners must email winbig@bfbs.com to register IN ADVANCE.  Please include your name, place of work and a day-time telephone number which we can contact you on. You only need to register once and you will be in with a chance of being selected, at random, each day the competition takes place.

The Competition Rules

The four-figure code to unlock the safe is known by only one (non-on-air) member of staff at Forces Radio BFBS Germany. The code has also been given to a garrison padre, in a sealed envelope for safekeeping and cross-checking when we have a winner. Forces Radio BFBS Germany already has the agreement of this individual to act for us in this way.

Everyone who registers will be entered into a draw and a person will be selected at random during Forces Radio BFBS Germany Breakfast and Afternoon shows (between 8-9 am and between 3-4 pm weekdays).

The radio presenter will contact the individual whose name is drawn.  The call will then be transferred live on-air and they will have two chances to correctly guess the four-digit combination to open the safe.  This will take place live on air and individuals are reminded not to swear or use other inappropriate language.

Note:  If a person does not answer their telephone when they are contacted, they will miss the opportunity to take part at that time (and another name will be drawn); however, their name will remain in the draw and there is a possibility they may be drawn again.  As the draw is random, there is the possibility that a person may be contacted and invited to take part on more than one occasion.

The four-digit combination will be entered into the safe keypad, as it is spoken on air, and there will be an audible 'beep' as each number is entered.

If the combination is correct, listeners will hear the bolts sliding open, the prize will be claimed and the competition will end.

If the combination is incorrect the safe will not open and the competition continues.

There is a 1 in 9,999 chance of guessing the correct 4-digit combination to unlock the safe.  So, if the safe has not been opened by the end of the second week, the presenter will reveal the first number in the combination.

If there has been no winner by the end of the third week the second number in the combination will be revealed, and if there is still no winner by the end of the 4th week, the third number will be revealed. This ensures the prize is won and there is still time to claim the prize.

By taking part in this competition you accept these terms and conditions and, if you are the lucky winner, you agree to take part in interviews and for your name and image to be used, by both Forces Radio BFBS and Grant & Green Ltd, for promotional material which may be broadcast or published on digital and social media platforms.

The exact details of this will be arranged with the winner and will include (but not be limited to) photos, video & interview with BFBS on collection of the vehicle and potentially afterwards when returning the vehicle.

Personal Data

The personal data in your email (e.g. email address, name and address) will not be shared with third parties, with the exception of the winner, who will be required to provide details to the Grant & Green Ltd for the purpose of arranging vehicle insurance, and the hotel for the purpose of checking in. You should visit these organisations' websites to view their privacy policies.

Personal information received by BFBS will be kept for no more than three calendar months and will then be deleted.  We may contact you by email, before the data is deleted, to invite you to take part in the BFBS satisfaction survey.

Note: These supplementary rules should be read in conjunction with BFBS' standard competition terms and conditions and privacy policy
