Royal Gurkha Rifles soldiers presented with Platinum Jubilee medals

Soldiers from the 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles (1 RGR) were presented with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee medals as they celebrated the second day of the jubilee weekend.

The special medal was awarded to all military personnel who had completed five years of full service before February 2022.

Major General Gez Strickland led the team in distributing the special reminder of Her Majesty's milestone.

An attestation parade followed, where new riflemen, swore their allegiance to the regiment. 

They have already sworn an oath to The Crown upon enlistment. 

In batches of three, their oath to 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles was made by touching the Queen's Truncheon.

As the parade square was cleared, the third more informal event of the day could begin.
