Challenger 2 tanks back on former British training area for first time in four years

Watch: British Army is expanding training operations in Germany.

The Army's battle group training programme in Germany is expanding, with British soldiers back in Bergen-Hohne for the first time since 2019.

Despite the Army's permanent deployment in Germany ending in 2020, units still travel from the UK to train in Germany at Sennelager, the British Army facility on the outskirts of the city of Paderborn and home to the Combat Ready Training Centre.

The training centre is planning to expand its operations, not only sending battlegroups from the UK to Sennelager but also to two German army training areas Bergen-Hohne south of Hamburg and Alte Mark, north of Magdeburg.
