The annual Cyprus Walkdown recently took place with participants from across the island making the trek from the tops of the Troodos mountains down to the bottom of the Happy Valley Dale.
Over 70 teams banded together to take on the challenge of walking either 15 or 40k, on what was a particularly hot day. Despite the heat however, a solid effort was put in by all who took part.
A previous participant of the race, Sue Smith, said ...
“… the comradery as we did it got us through, we worked as a team."
There were a few sore feet, but plenty of smiles and happy faces coming across the finishing line as their friends and family cheered them through the final stretch, ready with drinks, food and even a much need massage for when they finished.
Overall, it was definitely a gruelling feat, but one, it seems that many would do again. Congratulations to all who took part, now it’s time to start training for next year.
