Take a look at some intense winter training from the Korean People's Army (KPA).

Footage has been released by North Korea's state media showing KPA soldiers undergoing some extreme winter training, from crawling in the snow bare-chested to punching ice blocks and diving into the icy water.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently hailed the Korean People's Army as the "strongest in the world", according to the North Korean newspaper, Rodong Sinmun.

During a visit with the soldiers at their barracks, the North Korean leader reportedly lauded the soldiers as the height of the North Korean people's dignity who defend their bright days ahead, as he called for "redoubled efforts" toward the development of the armed forces and the socialist cause.

Kim Jong Un has reportedly pledged to expand military drills and beef up the country's war readiness posture, according to state media.
