Timelapse of Carrier Strike Group passing through Suez Canal

Led by aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, the group is in the final stages of its maiden deployment.

This timelapse video shows the UK Carrier Strike Group 21 (CSG21) mission's passage through the Suez Canal and into the Mediterranean Sea.

Led by Royal Navy fleet flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth, CSG21 is in its final month of its maiden deployment.

The formation was given a test earlier in the voyage when it was forced to intercept Russian aircraft almost every day in a two-week period sailing through the eastern Mediterranean.

Watch: Forces News was given an exclusive insight into how the interceptions were carried out and what it was like inside the Operations Room on board HMS Queen Elizabeth.

During CSG21, cross-decking exercises have seen US and UK aircraft landing on the flight decks of each other's vessels.

In August 2021, for the first time in recent history, the US cross-decked jets for a mission using a foreign aircraft carrier.
