The veteran-dog duo inspiring others struggling with civilian transition
A veteran who battled mental health illness – and his rescue dog – have picked up local awards for helping others back on their feet.
After leaving the Army in 1991, Barry Coase suffered constant pain, insomnia and depression and was diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder.
Bella, a rescue dog with a tough past of her own, came into Mr Coase's life in 2015 and aided his transition into civilian life. They won a Soldiering On Award this year for their Animal Partnership.

The pair now spend time supporting others in hospitals or through Combat Stress, the veterans' mental health charity.
