Soldiers Reflect On Checkpoint Role Helping Afghan Refugees Reach Britain

Soldiers who assisted Afghans on their journey from Kabul to safety have spoken to Forces News, having returned to base in Cyprus.

Corporal Jack Gibson, Private Liam Dunbar and Private Harley Mead were part of the 80-strong force from 1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment who were deployed to a safe Middle Eastern country to help the refugees on their journey.

From there, the personnel offered food and assistance to those who had fled Kabul, before helping them on the next available flight to the UK.

Back at Alexandra Barracks in Dhekelia, the troops say they were proud of their work and stand ready for future deployments.
