A Royal Navy sailor who died onboard HMS Kent has been named.

Leading Engineering Technician Daniel Harrison died on 10 July.

His vessel, HMS Kent, a Royal Navy Type 23 frigate, has been travelling to the Far East as part of the Carrier Strike Group deployment.

A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said: "The Ministry of Defence offers its condolences to the individual's family and friends.

"The Ship's Company of HMS Kent are in our thoughts during this difficult time.

"LET Harrison's next of kin have been informed and have requested privacy at this difficult time."

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) confirmed earlier this month that an investigation is under way into the sailor's death.

Portsmouth-based HMS Kent is currently deployed along with the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth as part of the Carrier Strike Group which has been travelling through the Mediterranean before heading to the Indo-Pacific region.
